The vineyard is composed of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The average age of the vines is 25 years old.
The most careful attention is paid to the means, or rather, the diverse agricultural processes which, from season to season, enable the preparation of the next harvest under the best conditions. Thus, the pruning process is carried out by a team recognized as being one of the finest of its kind in France.
In addition, natural preventive measures, such as de-leafing and green harvesting, enable us to obtain a perfect maturity of the grape at the moment of harvest.
Faurie de Souchard wine is distinguished, at once generous and soft, due to the diversity of the soil, which is composed of chalky clay on the upper part of the hillside, and ancient sands below.
In 1991, Faurie de Souchard was one of the first to install a drainage system allowing water to be brought to the surface.
This drainage system has since been adopted by numerous other properties, enabling an even irrigation of the soils while limiting erosion
The vineyard extends into the best exposed lands of the northern slope of Saint-Emilion.
It forms a vast rectangle of 14 hectares set between the vineyards of Petit Faurie de Soutard, the part of the Chateau Soutard situated on this slope, and the Chateau Larmande.
The property is delineated by the Saint-Christophe des bardes road on the lower side and by the Côte des Cadets on the upper side.
